Kashgar Old Town

Kashgar is situated at the Westernmost of Xinjiang, near the border with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. It has been an important trading center since the days of the Silk Road, and still is today. Starting from here one could go westward to Europe via the Fergana Valley (now Uzbekistan), as well as go southward to Kashmir region and northward to Urumqi.

Even today the city is getting more crowded and the Han is trying to get notice about their present in the region with modern buildings, Kashgar still features one the best-preserved traditional Islamic city of Central Asia.
